Well it's getting late and I should be in bed
I keep staring at the snow outside instead.
It brings back memories of other Christmas Eves
When mom would show us how to sow popcorn on a string.
Family gathered in from far and near.
Can't believe it's been another year.
Oh but time cannot erase the memory of each smiling face,
or the surprise when sleepy eyes on Christmas morn awake.
Oh I remember a Christmas long ago.
With candy canes, toy trains and mistletoe.
All us kids have grown.
We have children of our own.
But I remember a Christmas long ago.
Presents underneath the Christmas tree.
They can make a child as happy as can be.
But the greatest gifts we find are memories we've left behind.
Sweet faces, though no longer here, still make us smile year after year.
